Dr. Vimont has been the Director of the Social Work Program since 2013. Since coming to Ashland University, he has published four articles related to youth assets and substance use.
Each of the publications have used local youths as participants in the study, allowing for schools and local social service programs to use the data for programming purposes. Dr. Vimont has been an active member of Ashland’s Human Subject Review Board and is currently chair of the University Assessment Committee.
He teaches classes throughout the social work curriculum as well as courses in sociology. His major interest is macro practice that includes policy development, research practice, and analysis of the social environment. He has also taught the first practice course for the program since coming to Ashland University in the fall of 2010.
He is a doctoral graduate (2011) of Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. He is an active member of the National Association of Social Work and has been a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers since 1992. He currently serves as a data analysis consultant for both Wayne and Ashland counties’ Family and Children First Council.
Congratulations, Dr. Vimont!
